It is hard to understand why Uber has to make this into such a high profile event before it knows all the facts. The less said until that time, the better. Conduct an appropriate investigation of one person‘s allegations and determine as best you can whether there is merit to her claims or whether she is not stating things properly. Consult with your liability insurer and outside employment counsel and determine a course of action. In the meantime you make one public comment that you take these matters very seriously and are conducting an investigation and will take appropriate action based on the results of the investigation. You then say it is company policy not to publicly comment on ongoing litigation or investigations. Why drag yourself into a circus with Eric Holder and Arianna Huffington?
