    "In-house lawyer‘s knowledge of the business" involves a double-benefit -- the in-house lawyer is not only more likely to know where the business is going, but is also most likely to know where it‘s been. That knowledge of institutional history provides a continuity from one matter the the next (similar one) that outside counsel are much less likely to have.
